Microgravity Research

This is a video one of the members of the Missouri S&T Miners in Space made for our final report to NASA. I have been involved with this team for the last year, and we’re excited about this upcoming year!

Easter Egg Hunting – Like a Boss

Turns out that Missouri S&T hosts a giant Easter egg hunt. I guess no one else wanted any candy, because I just took what was in the opened eggs. I just thought the spread looked pretty impressive.

St. Pats!

For the last 19.4167 years of my life, I barely noticed as St. Patrick’s Day came and went with no other indication other than a slight pinch from my friends. In Rolla, It’s BIG. This picture is of us posing before the start of the concert by Chevelle. It was a fun time, and nice to take off time from classes.

Miners in Space – New Website!

I’m not sure if I’ve posted anything about this, but the Miners in Space is probably the design team that I am involved with most on the Missouri S&T campus. Basically we design, propose to NASA, construct, and test an experiment in microgravity on NASA’s Vomit Comet. Check out our website for more information!

Also, I’ll be one of the members of the team that will actually be flying on the Vomit Comet this summer. You can see some pictures of last year’s fliers on the website!

My First Computer Design

Maybe this is the start of my career in computers, or maybe this is simply a contributor to a bad grade in my intro to computing class, I’m not sure (give me a break, it’s one in the morning!). But in any case, this is my first attempt at designing a computer for scratch as one of the assignments in the class. It’s kind of a really basic state machine, but never the less, I thought it would be cool to post. I’ll also mention that the only part we haven’t at least gone over in class has been the memory, so I put a cloud around it, much like the rest of industry puts a cloud around computer things we don’t understand…..

Electronics!

Since I spend so much time working with them, every now and then I like to take a step back and look at the tools I use to learn about electronics. Here are a few of the many snapshots I took.

Here is the state of my desks before I left for school.

Challenge Accepted!

In between homework, design teams, development teams, software certifications, and class projects, I’ve had absolutely no time to post over the semester. Kind of expected. As my friends are constantly aware of this, one of them made a pretty funny poster to describe my life as it pertains to involvement in activities at Missouri S&T. The top image is an extremely outdated picture of my Freshman Engineering Professor, and the bottom is a shopped version of one of my senior pictures. Thanks Kyle!

It’s About Time (For School To Start)

Rather than work on websites, I’ve spent most of my summer this year messing around with some of my personal projects, learning even more about electronics/computers, and basically just having fun. It really has been great, but its about time to get to work again. I leave for MST in roughly three weeks, and I still have a moderate number of items left on my considerable “things to do before summer is over” list. Sadly, I probably won’t get them all done before I leave, so I’m just going to try and hit the important ones. I also have several different jobs for clients that have dragged on through the summer for various reasons, but I intend to finish those for sure.

DevinCornell.me Home Page and Video Site Updates

I just finished working on a small PHP project for showing videos using HTML5 or flash technology, so I updated my video site with the new scripts. You can check out this project, called “PHP Video Manager” on its TechMalt page. I also have worked on some small projects with my new Arduino microcontroller, with which I made a short video showing off one of them. Check that out on the video site under the title of “Joystick Controlled Servo“.
